On Saturday evening, the ML Sultan Primary School hall filled up fast with people, full of anticipation for the show by Hussein Vally and Noor Asmal.
The place was sold out and the money raised went towards fighting breast cancer. The show started with Iqbal Khan, as the MC for the evening, keeping everyone entertained with some great jokes. He introduced Resha Maharaj, a survivor of cancer.
She left South Africa and moved to Arizona in the USA 11 years ago when she received the news that she had cancer. She was able to overcome the disease and fulfil her dream of becoming a nurse who loves helping her patients.
A group of girls who have lessons at Yesho’s Dance Academy performed and had the crowd going wild with their moves, as they made their moms and dads proud.
In between all of this, there were lucky draws where vouchers were given away to lucky winners.
If you were brave enough to get on stage and dance, you could also win.
There was also a tuck shop which was sold out before half the evening was over.
Noor Asmal and Hussein Vally made a grand entrance from the back of the hall, with Noor singing to Hussein.
One lady, Rashida Khan – who performed on stage with Noor – had her parents in tears with pride.
Hussein Vally started his section of the show with a crowd-pleaser and had the whole hall singing along to the well-known track. He later showed his musical prowess by playing some well-known tunes on his keyboard.
It was a most entertaining evening for everyone and those who weren’t there really missed out!
