Women urged to get into business
Successful business women attended, including Nomfundo Mcoyi Bhengu, who owns one of the biggest funeral parlors in South Africa. Her company, iCebolami now has 35 branches and even one in London.
Local women were encouraged to get into business at a summit held in the Moth Hall in December.
Initiated by the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, in partnership with Dr Themba Njilo Foundation, the aim was to find ways of how women in the Umzinyathi district can contribute to the local economy.

Dr Themba Njilo, a well-known businessman, who owns a funeral parlor in Pietermaritzburg, told women that the worth is in the soil. Dr Njilo has been in business for 40 years.
Thembeka Zondo, a young, energetic and passionate woman, found her footing as an Ukhozi Fm broadcaster, community builder and is an inspiration to other young women.
She said it was time for the women of the Umzinyathi ‘to pull up their socks’.
