Fond farewell to ‘Squires’ Petro and Mick

Petro and Mick Bush have their final cash up at much-loved pub, Squires in Glencoe

For years, Squires entertained Glencoe (and those who flocked to the venue from other towns) under the eagle eye of Petro Bush who fast gained a reputation of running ‘the neatest, cleanest pub in the area’.
A mother-like figure, who is not scared to lay down the law or speak her mind, Petro – with the quiet but able back-up of husband, Mick, Petro was famous for handing out much-needed advice to what she fondly refers to as ‘my kids who came to Squires to socialise, play pool or watch sport’.
Last weekend, Petro and Mick said farewell to their many friends and customers at a farewell party at Squires in the Glencoe Spar Centre. The couple are returning to the UK (Mick’s homeland although he says he has lived in South Africa longer than he has done in the UK!) for what Petro says are health reasons.
