Youth in action against social ills

They will also approach schools with their drugs and substance abuse awareness campaigns

Youth Against Substance Abuse (YASA) is a non profitable organisation located in Sithembile, Glencoe.

According to these youth their community faces a high percentage of unemployed young people who have little information concerning opportunities that are available to them.

“We are actively involved in addressing issues regarding social ills which includes drugs and substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS,” said Ngiphile Mchunu and Lindumbuso Mbatha.

The organisers said their organisation will embark on a drugs and substance abuse campaign by involving youth in sport and education programmes. They will arrange a Youth Indaba seminar where they will be collaborating with different stakeholders such as government departments, higher institutions and local municipality so that the youth can be enlightened on career guidance.

They will also approach schools with their drugs and substance abuse awareness campaign where they will motivate learners through learning skills and motivational talks.
