DHS u/16 hockey girls go on tour to Volksrust
This tournament was truly an unforgettable experience for the team and they are looking forward to an exciting season ahead!
On March 29, the u/16 girls’ hockey team travelled to Volksrust to better their skills under the guidance of national hockey player and coach, Kim Hubach and her team.
Volksrust High was an amazing host and spoiled the girls with outstanding food and services during the week. The girls enjoyed coaching sessions every morning and played a total of 7 games during the week.
This tour was definitely beneficial to the team and the girls learned a lot from the passionate coaches who provided specialised advice based on individual problems and strategic play.
Due to the fact that the team was not so far from Dundee, we had parents visit us to support and watch the afternoon games.
They mentioned that they could see the difference in the girls’ game from the beginning to the end of tour. The coach, Mrs du Plessis, would like to thank all the parents who supported the girls – especially Mrs van Rooyen – for providing motherly love and support on days when the girls were very tired and home sick.
The team would like to thank ANBOT Diesel for being a great sponsor and providing the girls with beautiful practice shirts. They will continue wearing these shirts with pride!
