Hanuman Jayanti marks the birth of Lord Hanuman in the Hindu month of Chaitra

The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Ladysmith Sub-Centre, kindly invites all to observe Sri Hanuman Jayanti today (Thursday, April 21) at the Ramakrishna Centre in Agra Road.
The programme will comprise two sessions. From 6am to 8am, the Sri Hanuman Chalisa will be recited 11 times. Devotees are welcome to bring fruit and milk offerings during this time. From 6.30pm to 7.30pm, there will be an evening satsang comprising kirtans, a discourse and arati.
Hanuman Jayanti marks the birth of Lord Hanuman in the Hindu month of Chaitra. Hindus the world over celebrate Lord Hanuman’s birth – a symbol of strength, service and devotion to God.
Swami Vivekananda on Hanuman: As on the one hand Hanuman represented the ideal of service, so on the other hand he represented courage, striking the whole world with awe. He has not the least hesitation in sacrificing his life for the good of Rama (God). A supreme indifference to everything except the service of Rama (God).
