Local learner wins art competition

A special assembly was held at school for the winner, Ntokozo Hlengiwe

A local learner is the winner of the SANRAL Art Competition.

This competition is an initiative led by ChekiCoast, where students’ minds are put to the test. Students between Grade 1 and university level are given a challenge to come up with the most artistic design which is related to a theme given to them, bearing in mind the fundamental elements of road safety such as road signs and using the right colours.

Students are given stringent guidelines to follow in order to increase their chances of being awarded the grand prize. Once the selection process is complete, an awards ceremony is held to recognise the students who have performed exceptionally well in their category.

The winner of this competition is a student from a local school, Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec). A special assembly was held at school for the winner, Ntokozo Hlengiwe. SANRAL representatives travelled from Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg to hand over his voucher of R5000 and a bag of various goodies.

Speeches were also given to make the children aware of road safety. Various people from SANRAL delivered speeches.

Ntokozo had the opportunity to give a speech in which he thanked his peers, family, friends and teachers for the part they played in the award he won. The principal had a group called Sarafina perform a dance to the school.

The competition and the assembly were huge successes.
