Police arrest 295 sexual offenders

Various Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units in KwaZulu-Natal have a reason to celebrate results achieved during their investigation of various sexual related offences in KwaZulu-Natal during the month of March 2016. These dedicated team of detectives have been shuttling to and from the different courts throughout the province in the pursuit to see justice done to several victims of rape and sexual violation.
From March 1 to March 31, the members arrested a total of 295 suspects for sexually related offences including, rape, sexual assault, statutory rape, attempted rape, violation of a protection order, child abandonment, child pornography and other cases. A total of 39 accused were convicted and sentenced by various courts in the province. Two life sentences were handed down to two accused each and others were given a total of 415 years imprisonment. Other suspects are still in custody waiting for their cases to be heard
