Two killed after truck fire on the N3

ER24 paramedics report that a truck driver lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to collide with three other construction vehicles

If you were travelling on the N3 close to Pietermaritzburg this afternoon, you would have witnessed the smouldering accident, which left two dead and seven injured.

ER24 paramedics report that a truck driver lost control of the vehicle, which caused it to collide with three other construction vehicles on the N3.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found that one person was already deceased with extreme burn wounds. Two other patients has sustained critical injuries with their bodies completely covered in second degree burn wounds,” said ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw.
Other injuries sustained by the remaining patients included fractures and burn wounds; they were transported to neighbouring hospitals for further treatment.

“Another deceased patient was then found in one of the construction vehicles by rescue services. Sadly there was nothing paramedics could do for the patient and the patient was declared dead in scene,” added Mr Rossouw.
