Suspected farm attackers nabbed hours after assault and robbery in Mooi River

Just hours after allegedly assaulting and robbing a farm owner and his wife in Mooi River on Saturday night, two suspected farm attackers were arrested on the R103.
The farmer and his wife were watching television in their home when at about 11pm, they were confronted by three unknown men. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said that the couple was assaulted and robbed of a 9mm pistol.
“It is alleged that during the robbery, one of the suspects was shot and injured,” added Lt Col Zwane.
The three men fled the scene on foot. The couple immediately called the Mooi River police and reported a house robbery.
“The police members started to trace the whereabouts of the suspects and they were arrested not far away from the crime scene,” commented Lt Col Zwane.
Two of the men were arrested along the R103, close to Mooi River on Sunday morning. Lt Col Zwane says that one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound and in under police guard in hospital.
The arrested suspects are set to appear in the Mooi River Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, July 12. The KwaZulu Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Bhekinkosi Langa commended the members for their quick arrest of the suspect who attacked the couple.
“Our members will work tirelessly looking for the outstanding suspect in this case. Arrested suspects will be profiled to see if they are not wanted for other crimes in the province,” he said.
