Water-shedding will be enforced as of today (Wednesday), affecting factories, the CBD and residential households. uThukela District Municipality stresses that the drought situation has worsened, with not enough rains received in the Ladysmith area.
uThukela Communication Manager Jabulani Mkonza announced yesterday that water-shedding will come into effect, as raw water levels are dropping lower and lower by the day.
Hence, uThukela District Municipality is now implementing its water cuts schedule.
Pumps will be switched off today between 9am and 4pm to build up water in the reservoirs and will be switched on again between 4pm and 9pm.
From Thursday, the pumps will be switched on between 4pm and 9pm daily (times are subject to change).
This will affect the following areas: Ladysmith CBD, Observation Hill, Mkhamba Gardens, Modelkloof, Limit Hill, Danskraal Industrial, Roosboom, parts of St Chad’s and parts of Steadville.
