Business Forum happy that Dundee July tenders ‘were kept local’

Business Forum and Municipality 'kiss and make up'

Following the furor over a threat to ‘stop the Dundee July’ because tenders for services for the big event were given out to out-of-town suppliers, it appears as if everything ended on a rosy note.

Some weeks ago the now Endumeni Business Forum, now the Umzinyathi Business Forum, complained that companies from Durban and other towns were given preference over local companies by the organisers which included the Endumeni Municipality and Department of Sport and Recreation.

Assurances were given that their complaint would be investigated and the cracks had been smoothed over Siqu Zungu, Secretary of the Umzinyathi Business Forum, expressing his gratitude to Mayor Thulani Mahaye  and Lindokuhle Ngubane, Umzinyathi District Mayor, for the support given to local businesses.

However, some local businesses who contacted the Courier asked that the Municipality be transparent and publish a full list of suppliers who won tenders at the Dundee July and include the cost thereof.
