Team Green gears up for Memel Walk on Women’s Day

How are you going to mark Women's Day - these guys are walking...

While many will use the Women’s Day public holiday to relax, a group of hardy walkers – called Team Hervormers Glencoe – will walk over 50km from Memel to Newcastle in support of the Blood Bank’s annual fund raiser.
The thirty walkers comprise mainly members of the Hervormde Kerk, Glencoe, but the event has proved so popular that there has also been support from across the community.

Lani van der Mescht, one of the organisers, said last year they only entered three teams of five while eight walkers completed the entire 5om by themselves.
“This year we have five teams of five on a relay basis while ten walkers will complete the 50km. Funds raised will go to the church and at the same time, we are also supporting the Blood Bank.”
