A multi-disciplinary crime prevention operation was held on July 29 in the Uthukela Cluster entailing several roadblocks as well as cordon and search operations.

These police actions were part of ‘Operation High Density – Back to Basics’.

During the operation 532 vehicles, 1 007 people and 11 premises were searched. Four licensed firearms were verified and 36 notices were issued for traffic related crimes.

One person, a 38-year-old female, was arrested for selling liquor without a licence.
