A lady with an unusual hobby

Her hobby started when she was still at school, creating her own birthday invitations and accessories

Local resident Sonja Timm makes wooden frames and creates her own birthday / wedding invitations, as well as goody bags, boxes and party buckets.

Using old, dry wood, a beautiful frame can be made.

This unusual hobby is also a source of income for Sonja, who was born and raised in Ladysmith.

As the daughter of Annamarie Koen from the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL), she says she is definitely an animal lover just like her mom. Sonja is happily married and has been blessed with two handsome young sons named Devyn and Damyn.

She works full-time, but still manages to balance her life and indulge in her hobby as well.

Her hobby started when she was still at school, creating her own birthday invitations and accessories.

Her friends and family are intrigued by her talent and believe that one day it could amount to something “big”.

Sonja tells the Ladysmith Gazette that she believes in the mantra: “Do what you love and you will love what you do”. So, not surprisingly, when Sonja is busy with her frames, invitations and goody bags, she feels fulfilled, motivated and productive.

“It doesn’t feel like work because I love and enjoy it so much. I wouldn’t trade this hobby for anything; it really is my passion and gives me hours of fun where I feel I am truly accomplishing something,” says Sonja with a big smile.
