Nquthu ‘sex video’ teacher in bail application

The accused will remain in custody until his baill application resumes on September 30.

Jomo Sibiya, a member of the KZN Legislature, was representing the MEC for Educaton at the Nquthu Magistrate’s Court where a teacher from Ekucabangeni School is applying for bail after he was charged for having sex with school children at the school premises. The acts were also videoed by the teacher.

The videos later went viral on social media after the teacher’s cellphone memory card went astray. Captain Sbusiso Ndebele of the SAPS Family Violence and Protection Unit gave evidence saying the accused had threatened the girls involved and their families.

“The accused also has a firearm and police were investigating other cases against him. For these reason he should not be given bail,” Captain Ndebele said.

In asking for bail, lawyer, Wesley John claimed his client was a victim of a conspiracy between rival teacher unions at the school.

The accused will remain in custody until his baill application resumes on September 30.
