UPDATE: Murder suspect nabbed by police

The man was apprehended in Standerton, in what police believe to an attempt to evade arrest.

LENNOXTON – The second suspect wanted by Newcastle SAPS  in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man, which occurred over the weekend at the Amanath Shopping Centre has been arrested.

The man was apprehended in Standerton, in what police believe to be his attempts of evading arrest.

“The suspect was arrested yesterday (September 22). We believe he was on his way to Benoni,” said Captain Rito.

Constable H.S Sibiya was the arresting officer, and a case of murder has been opened.

The first suspect was arrested on the night of the incident.

Police investigations continue.

It is alleged the deceased and his friend were accosted by the two suspects upon their return from the shopping centre, when the incident occurred.

The victim suffered a blow to the head with a steel pipe.
