Wasbank reels after murder in centre of village

Forensic police experts are on the scene and an autopsy will be conducted,

The sleepy hamlet of Wasbank was left in shock this morning after the discovery at around 5am of a man who had been stabbed to death outside a local tavern.

The man was identified as Sheraz Dubree (52) who was well-known in the area from his of working for the previous Development Services Board of Wasbank under the old Natal Administration.

Residents who spoke to the Courier believe Mr Dubree was outside a shop in the centre of town, opposite the BP Garage on Station Street, late last night when he was attacked and stabbed.  It is unclear if he was also robbed as his personal possessions were still on him when his body was discovered.

Police are currently on the scene.  Mr Dubree lived with his parents in the town. Condolences to his family and friends.
