Teen rapist jailed for life

Sensing something was amiss when the girl took too long to return home, her grandmother sent her grandchildren to go and look for the victim.

A man who preyed on a teenage girl at her family’s home during a social function and raped her has been jailed for life
The Newcastle Court heard how Skhumbuzo Buthelezi (32) followed the 13-year-old to an outside toilet while attending a get-together at her family’s home in Mbabane, Dannhauser, on April 3 2014.
Buthelezi attacked and raped her.  Sensing something was amiss when the girl took too long to return home, her grandmother sent her grandchildren to go and look for the victim. It was also noticed that the accused was also no longer in the house.
When the victim was found outside, she reported that she had just been raped by Buthelezi. The community apprehended him and the Dannhauser Police was called, who arrested him.
A case of rape was opened and handed to Dundee Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for further handling.
“Warrant Officer Mazibuko saw the docket through court and his hard work, as well as the testimonies of good witnesses ensured that Mr Buthelezi will now spend his life behind bars for his heinous crime,” said Captain F Fuller, Dundee Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit commander.
