The prisoner pretended to be another convict who was awaiting bail
A prisoner is on the run after managing to elude Ladysmith wardens on Friday (September 30).
It is believed that the prisoner pretended to be another convict who was waiting for bail to be paid before being released.
The clever criminal “swapped places” with the awaiting-bail convict and was released instead from the Ladysmith Correctional Services prison.
It is believed that two Correctional Services officials have been suspended pending an investigation.
This story will be updated with more information once Correctional Services have commented.
