Update: Ladysmith prisoner on the run after eluding wardens
Thus far, two Correctional Services officials have been suspended pending an investigation

The prisoner who was mistakenly released from prison on Friday (September 30) is believed to be an out-on-parole convict who was arrested after committing an offence.
It is believed that part of court conditions were: he be held in custody, with bail being denied.
On Friday, the prisoner eluded Ladysmith wardens by pretending to be another convict who was waiting for bail to be paid before being released.
The clever criminal “swapped places” with the awaiting-bail convict and was released from the Ladysmith Correctional Services prison. It is believed that alarm bells were triggered when wardens were carrying out a prisoner count. Then only did officials realise what had transpired.
Thus far, two Correctional Services officials have been suspended pending an investigation.
The escaped convict is still on the run.
This story will be updated once Correctional Services have commented.
