“From Dundee to the world”-M2

He will be on the hit television show, Coke Studio, making a song with a visionary Hip-Hop producer...

Masibonge Mtshali known as M2 grew up in Dundee and is now shining the light in Johannesburg. Music has been a long growing passion from when he was 10 years old. He remembers sitting alongside the radio and singing along to songs until he started coming up with his own lines. Move forward years later, M2 is now at the forefront of South Africa’s upcoming music talent. Having gone from Dundee, after studying at Dundee High School in ’08, he pursued studies relevant to his artistic thinking and this led him to start working on South Africa’s most loved shows like MasterChef SA and Clash of the Choirs.

His creativity has went well along his music career as he has had a few songs played on Metro FM, YFM and Ukhozi FM by Djs including Black Coffee, DJ Merlon and DJ Shimza. Through his resilience he has earned himself some growing support from a lot of house music fans, both locally, and the world at large. What’s great is that he has been building his repertoire in Dundee’s various events for years and this comes as little surprise to those that will recognise him. On Saturday, October 8, he will be on the hit television show, Coke Studio, making a song with a visionary Hip-Hop producer who’s worked with the likes of AKA, Khuli Chana and DJ Tira.

Representing his hometown Dundee, M2 is finally making a name for himself in the music industry.

A genre outside his own:

“It was really difficult to create a different genre but with the guidance of a veteran like Sticky it easily became about the music”. His experience of getting on the show has solidified his dream because this platform is world renowned. What is even more of a ‘biggie’ is that the song that he co-produced on the show became the theme song for the entire season, which is a significant achievement in a show that boasts the best of local and international talents such as Trey Songs, AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Ricky Rick, Heavy K, Emtee, Bucie, Mobi Dixon, Diamond Platinum, etc.

In his own words:

“I’d like to inspire the young and old into realising that people from small towns and rural areas can achieve their dreams. I thank God everyday for starting where I did and now we’re onto the world. I’m excited about my upcoming music projects that will have big industry names attached to them. Most importantly though I’d like to thank God, my Mom, rest of the family, Emjay, Sthe, Mxo, Mzwa, Hampton Records, Black and White and fellow producers. From Dundee to the world”. Catch Dundee’s own at 6pm Saturday October 8 on ETV.
