Successful Golf Day for the SPCA

Non-golfers also supported the annual SPCA Charity Gold Day event.

On Saturday almost 60 golfers, supplemented by a further dozen non-golfers, supported the annual SPCA Charity Golf Day at Dundee Country Club which resulted in a very successful day for this worthy charity. Winning the 4BBBS competition was the pairing of Jurie Engelbrecht and Ronel Purchase who finished with a great score of 48 points. Brian du Toit and his partner, John Zulu, managed to count out Sifiso Kunene and Cyril Mkhwananzi to finish in second and third respectively as both pairings scored 46 points. Taking home the fourth prize was the pairing of Debbie Catlett and Rob Streak who finished on 45 points.

The novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the par 3’s went to; J Khumalo on no. 4, H Booysen on no. 8, J Zulu on no. 12 and A.Terblanche on the 16th hole.

All local golfers were happy to see Dundee Country Club’s two rising star golfers in the making, brothers Louis and Rigardt Albertse, taking part in the charity day. It was none other than Louis who won the prize for the men’s longest drive on hole no.15 and while not to be outdone by his big brother, Rigardt, won the prize for nearest for two on the 18th hole. The novelty prize for the ladies longest drive went to Natasha Du Plessis.

Two players also managed to record eleven points or better on the allocated jackpot holes, and earning themselves a little extra cash was Ronel Purchase and Sifiso Kunene. All in all, a very successful and enjoyable day was had by all and the Club thanks Desiree du Toit and her team of ladies from the SPCA for a well organised event.
Forthcoming fixtures: Friday 14th,10 Hole Meat Competition; Saturday 15th: Club Competition will be an I.P.S. event and on Sunday, October 23. the Northern Region Ladies Golf will be hosting The Mixed Foursomes 36 Holes Medal Competition in Dundee.
