Local cricketer now playing in the UK
Kerwin plays in England for Wem Cricket Club in the Shropshire Premier Division

Born in Ladysmith, 22-year-old Kerwin Mungroo matriculated from Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) in 2012. He is a lover of sports and was named ‘Lasec Sportsman of the Year’ in both 2011 and 2012.
“Cricket has always been my first love. I represented the KZN Inland Provincial teams from Under 11 to Under 17 and the prestigious Khaya Majola Cricket Week from 2005 to 2012,” says Kerwin.
He has represented various cricket clubs in the local Ladysmith Cricket League, including African United Cricket Club and Acaciavale Sporting Academy.
“Through hard work in the local cricket league, I was selected to represent the Ladysmith Senior Cricket Team in both the KZN Challenge and the KZN Inland Premier League.”
Being an avid sportsman, Kerwin has represnted the uThukela District in cricket, volleyball and soccer.
The young sportsman was scouted by Greg Heyes at the 2012 Khaya Majola Week and was asked to join the CSA Academy at the University of Fort Hare.
“I learned so much from my bowling coach, who is Mfuneko Ngam, and I can never thank him enough because bowling is my strongest asset in the game of cricket,” stressed the sportsman.
After all the hard work and dedication, Kerwin now plays in England for Wem Cricket Club in the Shropshire Premier Division. The young star is very excited to play in England and says this has to be the most overwhelming experience of his life.
“It is very cold in England, so I had to adapt to the weather conditions there. My teammates have shown me so much support and made my stay in England worthwhile. “My goal has always been to give back to my community. For this reason, I have volunteered as a coach to the less fortunate youth in Ezakheni under the banner of Leonardsville Sporting-Cricket School of Excellence,” the young star stressed.
