Stillwaters beat seasoned teams and tops the league
The event promises to be a night to remember

Besides the water level of the dam receding, there seems to be a drought with regards to the catches of late.
The VME League 3, fished at Richgate Park on October 16, produced a major upset as the less fancied contingent of Stillwaters Angling Club topped the league beating the seasoned teams. Stillwaters scored an impressive 45 points, followed by the ever improving Ladysmith Angling Club on 43 points, Breakwaters (35 points) while both Challengers and Dannhauser Angling Clubs tied on 14 points.
The current league log standing sees Breakwaters on (26 points); Stillwaters (20 points); Ladysmith (20 points); Challengers (17 points) and Dannhauser on 5 points.
The top angler of the day was Sikander Amod of Stillwaters who scored 15 points, earning the orange cap, an outright trophy and R200. He also caught a Barbel of 6,9kg.
The leading angler is Yusheer Govender of Ladysmith Angling Club on 16 points who just edged out Monty Slabbert also on 16 points, the former having caught more fish.
The title holders for the APL so far include: Shane Mangaroo (heaviest scaled fish 3,465kg); Sikander Amod (Heaviest non scaled fish 6,9kg); Suvyn Budhoo (rare specie bass of 1,090kg); Veruschka Boodhoo (Lady Angler of Year); Dan Govender (Senior Angler of the Year) and Yusheer Govender (Angler of the Year).
The top five anglers for Breakwaters/Stillwaters were: Sikander Amod (15 points); Monty Slabbert (13 points); Oosie Oosthuizen (6 points); Mervin Reddy (6 points) and Wayne Oosthuizen (5 pts). The title contender for Breakwater/Stillwaters Angling Club include: Vernon Naidoo (heaviest scaled fish 3,375kg); Sikander Amod (heaviest non scaled fish 6,9kg and highest point scorer); SH Yisa (heaviest scaly 525g); Fanie Els (heaviest eel 2,270kg, most fish caught and Champion of Champions); Monty Slabbert (league champion 16 points); Suvyn Budhoo (bass of 1,090kg); Veruschka Boodhoo (Lady Angler of the Year 4 pts); Kidd Rampersadh (Senior Angler of the Year 8 pts) and Wayne Oosthuizen (Angler of the Year 18pts).
Breakwaters will be holding its annual awards function, celebrating 25 years in existence on November 5 at the Style and Grace Wedding Venue and Conference Centre.
