Update: Daughter reunited with her father

Antoinette Tebbut (37) appealed for help and the Ladysmith Gazette was lucky enough to play a small part in this social media miracle

A story about a 37-year-old woman looking for her father, which was published just over an hour ago online, has shown the power of social media, creating a little miracle as the pair have been reunited after 13 years.

Antoinette Tebbut (37) messaged the Ladysmith Gazette, appealing to us to help her find her long-lost father.

Having last seen or spoken to each other 13 years ago, the odds of locating her father seemed near impossible.

But within seconds of the story going online, things started falling into place.

Richard Bruce Joubert, who is a car guard at the Pick ‘n Pay Centre, expressed gratitude, saying he has been praying for this day for the past 13 years.

“I am so happy to have spoken to her today. I have been praying for this day for a very long time. I can’t really explain how thankful I am to the people who helped reunite us. A special thanks goes to the Ladysmith Gazette for making it easy for us to be reunited,” said Bruce.

The father and daughter had a long conversation over the phone and plan to meet soon, as Antoinette resides in Johannesburg.
