Update: Ladysmith Gazette helps reunite father and daughter
Antoinette, who resides in Johannesburg, says she received no less than 16 calls from people who know her father
A father and daughter have been reunited after not seeing or speaking to each other in 13 years.
37-year-old Antoinette Tebbut approached the Ladysmith Gazette, seeking help in finding her long-lost dad.
Minutes after a story was published online, Antoinette was already receiving phone calls from people who know her father, Richard Bruce Joubert, and had recently seen him.
Antoinette, who resides in Johannesburg, says she received no less than 16 calls from people who know her father. This certainly proves the power of social media, which worked a little miracle in this case.
One of the callers actually went to Richard and phoned Antoinette then and there, allowing her to speak to her father for the first time in over a decade.
Finding Richard wasn’t much of a problem, as he is a car guard at San Marco Centre.
“I was so happy to talk to him. My heart is now at peace knowing he is still alive and doing well. Seeing a picture of him that was taken by a Ladysmith Gazette journalist, I realised he has not changed much,” said a happy Antoinette.
She plans to come down from Johannesburg in December to meet her father. She will be coming with her husband so that he too can meet his father-in-law.
Antoinette says she has two sisters and is in the process of organising for them to meet their father as well.
