Petrol price to increase once again

The price of petrol will go up by 45 cents a litre from Wednesday, November 2

Brace yourselves because the petrol price is set to increase once again!

Unpleasant as this news is for motorists around the country, the Automobile Association (AA) of South Africa says the latest fuel price hike comes as no surprise.

The Energy Department announced that the price of petrol will go up by 45 cents a litre from Wednesday, November 2.

Diesel will rise by 63 cents a litre and illuminating paraffin is going up 76 cents.

The AA’s Layton Beard said, “We believe the recent strengthening of the rand against the dollar has not been enough to prevent a fuel price hike for November.

“The rand incurred heavy losses at mid-month (October) in the wake of the NPA’s decision to charge Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan. The deficit has not been made up even though the rand has been slightly stronger in the last 10 days.”
