Steel Wings hold 13th annual rally
The Ladysmith chapter was there in full force!

Close to 500 Harley Davidson motorcycles made their way to the northern Berg for the 13th annual Steel Wings Rally over the weekend. National Steel Wings chairman Pieter Groenewald and his wife Corinne were pleased with the turnout.
“18 of the 19 Steel Wings chapters attended. This year’s rally was called ‘Thunderberg’ and it was a blast, as usual. We rented out the entire Alpine Heath for the weekend and from there, the festivities continued,” says Corinne.
On Saturday morning, the bikers were split into two manageable groups. The first stop on their out-ride from Alpine Heath was the Tower of Pizza for a poker run.
The second group stopped at Bingelela just outside Bergville for some good old fashioned sports.
“The rally is basically a team-building exercise. The chapters are spread far and wide across the country, and this gives us the opportunity to get together and have some fun,” adds Corrine.
A member of the Bloemfontein chapter, Markus Oberholzer, commented that only Harley Davidson motorcycles are allowed at the rally.
“Steel Wings is a Harley club; it is the only requirement. You have to have a passion for Harleys and the people who ride them.”
The Ladysmith chapter was there in full force. “We had so much fun this year! We have such an amazing chapter here in Ladysmith and it’s wonderful to be part of the bigger picture with such fantastic people,” said Ladysmith’s Braam Potgieter, who of course also rides a Harley and is a member of the chapter.
