Street riddled with potholes for 20 years

Rangoon Road in Leonardsville is a road filled with potholes that the municipality hasn’t bothered to fix in almost two decades.
Mrs L Bhoobun, who is a member of council in the area, says she has complained to the local municipality on numerous occasions and still no workers have come to remedy the situation.
“Rangoon Road in Leonarsdville, which is the oldest road in the area, has been in this state of disrepair ever since I can remember. It is the forgotten part of Ladysmith, with all the other roads in this town being fixed while nobody bothers to come and fix this road,” says Mrs Bhoobun.
The potholes along this stretch of road are terrible and it’s almost impossible for motorists to negotiate with their vehicles, as the holes in the road surface are too many and too big.
“It is very difficult to drive along this road, as the potholes become less visible at night with all the water that gets trapped in them. These potholes are a hazard and they become costly to motorists, as they damage cars,” adds a concerned Mrs Bhoobun.
She went on to say that the municipality pays them no mind and, as the community of Leonardsville, they feel forgotten in an absolute vacuum of no service delivery in the area.
