Illing Road businesses without electricity

Businesses left in the dark as municipal electricians do their best to try and fix the problem

Businesses in Illing Road have been without electricity since 6pm Thursday evening (November 10).

Frustrated business owners say they have to face this problem time and time again, and that it costs them money to invest in a generator and buy petrol to run their shops. Those selling perishable items are at risk of losing stock, while those who do not have generators are forced to close until the electricity is back on again.

Electricians have been out since 2am this morning.

The cause of the power outage has been identified, but workers are still digging a trench and attempting to fix the problem.

Municipal electricians hope to have power restored by this afternoon.

It has been over 12 hours since the lights went off.
