Papkuilsfontein road repair delay continues

Weeks turned into months and the road is in a worse condition than it was

The wait for asphalt has seen the road rehabilitation project in Papkuilsfontein come to an indefinite stop.

In January this year, the municipality embarked on a project to repair this road, which was pitted with potholes. The black top surface was scraped off and soon thereafter work on the road stopped.

Weeks turned into months and the road is in a worse condition than it was. In May, the local municipality attributed the road works delay to the shortage of asphalt or ‘hot mix’ in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Acting Municipal Manager at the time said that an order for asphalt had been made and delivery was awaited. However, it’s December and the road remains unfinished and there isn’t any word yet about when the project will resume.
