2017 greetings from the AbaQulusi Municipality Information Bureau
'Should you plan a school tour, a family reunion or a sporting event, be assured of our best attention at all times.'
ABAQULUSI Municipality Tourism Officer, Alet Swanepoel writes: “At the Information Bureau the staff enjoy assisting visitors.”
“Hereby a few facts on tourism in the region: This office is fully supported and funded by the AbaQulusi Municipality in their effort to promote the tourism industry.
“The tourism industry needs all role players to support this economic entity to ensure growth. Just as the Municipality supports the office to ensure the visitors are assisted with relevant and correct information as well as ensuring that the town and its area and its surrounding attractions are marketed at various forums, the private sector – the accommodation establishments, tour guides, curio shops, transport companies – all ensure that visitors to our area, are exposed to products that portray the excellence in our region. This is the first handshake outsiders, whether from South Africa or overseas, get from our country. It is like the cover of a book giving you a glimpse of what else you can expect and we would like to ensure that they all have great expectations which are then met by the industry with their good products.
“But locals also have a responsibility. School pupils, students, the shopkeepers, the butcher, the baker or the pedestrian can also play a role to ensure that visitors have an enjoyable time in our area. If all of us can assist by being friendly, providing good tourism information, or talking positively about the area, or informing visitors where to go, or giving road directions. We can all ensure that the visitors will stay in our area for one or two nights longer, or one meal later or one visit longer, thus spending more money here, and therefore ensuring that this economic activity can expand and grow and eventually create more job opportunities and more economic wealth for the local residents.
“We hope and trust that you will use this information to encourage other residents to all become tourism ambassadors of our area. Should you plan a school tour, a family reunion or a sporting event, be assured of our best attention at all times.
“Contact us or come and visit the AbaQulusi Municipality Information Bureau at the Corner of Landdrost and Mark Street and see how we can ensure you have an unforgettable time!”
