Generous donation for Estcourt Primary School

The school received 20 benches from Mpumelelo Furniture Manufacturers

Excitement was in the air at Estcourt Primary School on Thursday afternoon. This was when the school received 20 benches from Mpumelelo Furniture Manufacturers.

The company responded to a social media plea made by a parent of the school, Mthembeni Majola. He said that seeing the lack of resources at the school, especially after the suspected arson attack that saw classrooms destroyed, he felt an urge to do something positive.

Responding immediately, Mpumelelo Furniture Manufacturers loaded their van and delivered the benches to the school by the afternoon.

Zinhle Mdluli from the company said that the decision to donate the desks stemmed from the need to support the school and the learners.
“These are our children too and we just had to do something,” she said.

Principal Mrs Lambert was surprised by the generous gesture.

“This is lovely! Thank you so much,” she exclaimed.

Mr Majola calls on other businesses or individuals to assist Estcourt Primary School.

“Floor space is a problem since two classrooms were burnt down to ashes last year. The Education Department has requested a week to secure procurement of mobile classrooms. I appeal to all business people to follow the example set by Mpumelelo Furniture Manufacturers. Education plays a vital role in abolishing crime and substance abuse and is an opportunity for young stars to brighten their lives,” he commented.
