Does a municipal clean audit mean a clean town?

As we all know, the former Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality, now known as Alfred Duma Local Municipality, got a clean audit from the Auditor-General.

They hope the clean audit report from the Auditor-General will be maintained at Alfred Duma Municipality, which covers the community of Ladysmith, Steadville, Ezakheni, Ekuvukeni, Uitvaal, Sahlumbe and all other areas within the boundaries of the municipality.

So one would expect a clean audit to translate into a clean town… But with weeds and grass growing on our sidewalks and even onto the road surface, this is obviously not true…

The financial statements are free from material misstatements (in other words, a financially unqualified audit opinion) and there are no material findings on reporting on performance objectives or non-compliance with legislation.
