DJ to rock the decks of Doha

The DJ is putting in blood, sweat and crazy beats into his album 'Mistress Music', which should hit the shelves in September this year

Remember the old saying, “Your first impression is the last impression”?

Well, local DJ Mpiloz (Philani Manyoni) nailed his first impression during a trip he made to the United Kingdom last year.

A social media personality was blown away by his performance and decided to invite him for a gig in Qatar, Doha later this year.
One other highlight for the DJ last year was getting airtime on Ukhosi FM.

“It was a great experience knowing that my fans were tuned in but at the very same time it was scary playing live on radio for 7.5 million listeners,” recalled DJ Mpiloz.

The DJ is putting in blood, sweat and crazy beats into his album ‘Mistress Music’, which should hit the shelves in September this year. The album will be available on online audio stores such as ITunes. The album will consist of 15 songs, two of which will be released as singles in mid-February.

One will feature Gabi Teeky, a Xhosa female artist from the Eastern Cape, while the other will feature local DJ Rough, who is currently based in Gauteng. DJ Mpiloz looks forward to working with many local artists and number one of his list is upcoming artist D.O.G who hails from Rensburgdrift.

“I would like our municipality to support local talent,” urged the DJ.

DJ Mpiloz is interestingly the first underground DJ from the Midlands to go abroad.

“I am extremely proud of my work and I am hoping and praying that 2017 is going to be my year,” he said with a smile.

When asked about which of the 15 songs on the album he most enjoyed working on, DJ Mpiloz answered: “I loved working on each song. Every song is great in its own right, but ‘Party Tonight’ has to be my favourite.”

On ‘Party Tonight’, the DJ got to work with the legend of house music Kenny, Jazz artist Kiki Hawkins and American songstress Nekerria.
Amongst DJ Mpiloz’s goals for this year, he hopes to push his music, get more air play on radio stations, work on music videos and with fingers crossed, get nominated for an award.
