The future of Paddadam is in your hands
'So, good people, the future of Paddadam is in your hands!'
Doug Grewar writes:
THERE will be a special general meeting at the Risen Son Academy (RSA) on April 19 at 5pm for 5.30pm to form the ‘Paddadam Association’. The RSA is on Utrecht Street, behind Vryheid High School.
The aim of the proposed Paddadam Association is to obtain a lease from the Abaqulusi Local Municipality (ALM) to manage the Paddadam, which will then be rezoned into a Private Community Park.

This Private Community Park will be a family orientated recreation centre for all law-abiding Abaqulusi residents.
We want to ensure that Paddadam does not again degenerate into the disgusting rubbish dump that it was three years ago before the community started the renovation project.
Attorney, André Dreyer, has kindly volunteered to help us draft a constitution and the request for a lease.
We need to form a committee. We need good people who are prepared to give only one hour of their time once a month to give guidance to the Action Team.
I will not be on the committee except as a coordinator, but I will remain part of the Action Team that does the actual work at Paddadam Park. The team so far comprises of Marlize Harmse, Gert Frey, Chris van Eden and I.
Already, we have several hundred prospective members and we have started a Facebook page titled ‘Paddadam Association’.
So, good people, the future of Paddadam is in your hands! Come in large numbers to the meeting. Elect a strong, active committee and there is every chance that the ALM will give us a lease and rezone Paddadam .
It is up to you to show your strong support or else we will have no choice but to thank the ALM and to tell them to take back the management of their Paddadam Park.
The Mayor has clearly stated that the ALM does not have funds to employ workers to manage Paddadam, so we will see it very quickly return to a disgusting rubbish dump.
