The Sat-Chit-Ananda Temple welcomes new committee

Outgoing chairman, Paddy Sewthal, highlighted his tenure as chairman of the Temple Society with the successes for the period 2016/2017.

The Sat-Chit-Ananda Temple Society of Newcastle held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the temple grounds in Fernwood last Sunday.

The existing executive committee was dissolved, and new members for an executive committee were elected.

Outgoing chairman, Paddy Sewthal, highlighted his tenure as chairman of the Temple Society with the successes for the period 2016/2017.

Sewthal has served on the committee for approximately 10 years, and started out as an assistant secretary.

“In these years, I have witnessed and learned extreme passion, devotion and determination. I have also learned how to deal with people from different walks of life, and with the community at large,” he said.

He went on to report the success of the temple was due to the hard work and commitment from its members.

“The love, devotion and sincerity of every member is incredible.”

Sewthal thanked outgoing members for consistent effort and dedication, and welcomed the new committee with sound advice.

“Be brave and take this temple to new heights. Always keep the Sat-Chit Ananda Temple shining,” he encouraged.

As a non-profit organisation, financial stability plays a critical role in the sustainability and success of the organisation, and therefore requires community support.

The progress on the interior of the temple was well under way, thanks to generous contributions by numerous committee and community members.

Outgoing joint treasurer, Pam Devising reported the temple hosted various events during the 2016/2017 period as fund raisers.

“All the events assisted in taking the temple forward. May all be blessed for their spirit of giving,” said Devising.

The following members were elected to the new committee:

Chairperson – Paddy Sewthal

Vice Chairperson – Rajendra Jaggernath

Treasurer – A.D Singh and Avikar Singh

Secretaries – Ishwar Singh and Pam Devising

Public Relations Officer – Pravin Singh

Youth Chairperson – Avikar Singh and

Trustee – Aunty Barbie.
