Road submerged in water for almost a week
Due to the blocked drains at this spot, water is now also flooding the road a few meters away
At the time of writing this article, it was day six that this road in Papkuilsfontein has been submerged in water. After a heavy rainfall last Wednesday, the road was flooded, as it always is after rain.

The large pool of water prevented motorists and pedestrians from passing, as well as home owners whose front gates are directly in front of the flooded road.
As the days progressed, the water did not flow down the hill, as it usually does, it remained in a stagnant pool throughout the week and weekend.

While children played in the murky water with reckless abandon, many residents are wondering when the municipality will step in to finally resolve the flooding in this area. Due to the blocked drains at this spot, water is now also flooding the road a few meters away.

On Monday, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality was asked if there was a way to step in and alleviate the flooding, no response was received at the time of going to print. However, a municipal team was sent out to clear out the water and the road is passable…until the next rain.
