Golfer Jo Khumalo crowned Club Champion
This coming weekend sees the 2018 Club Match Play Championships taking place.
Thirty-six Dundee Country Club golfers competed in the 2018 Club Stoke Play Championships over this past weekend, and it was the ever consistent Jo Khumalo who was crowned 2018 Club Champion with scores of 75 and 77 for a total of 152 for the 36 hole event.
Walter Du Plessis led the field on Saturday after the first 18 holes coming home just three over par 74, but unfortunately couldn’t produce the same form on Sunday morning when scoring an 82 to finish runner-up on a total of 156.

The Men’s B Division was a very closely contested affair between Willie Maritz, Cyril Mkhwanazi and Bruce Meyer, with Willie shooting rounds of 83 and 82 to hold on to win the B Division by one shot over Cyril.
Debbie Catlett was an easy winner of the Ladies B Division with a score of 171, eleven shots clear of second-placed Vlooi Slabbert. In the Ladies C Division, Hlengiwe Hlongwane comfortably won her division by fourteen shots over second-placed Dolly Bradbury.
The first 18 holes of the Championships on Saturday also saw the golfers competing for the April Monthly Mug with Walter Du Plessis winning the Men’s A Division and Blessing Chiwaya taking home the B Division Mug. Debbie Catlett won the Ladies B division while Hlengiwe Hlongwane won the Ladies C division Mug.
This coming weekend sees the 2018 Club Match Play Championships taking place, and the following players have qualified to take part; Men’s A Division, J Khumalo, W Du Plessis, M Meyer, S Kunene, A Mbatha, G Robson, B Francis and H Booysen. The Men’s B Division players are W Maritz, C Mkhwanazi, B Meyer, C Chawanda, R Catlett, M Bradbury, B Sandy and KP Smith.
