A new dawn for Dundee’s Development Athletic Club

The club is now open to everyone who would like to join them.

The birth of Dundee’s Development Athletic Club was established in 2011 by Sibonelo Khulu. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he originally could not get it off the ground but the club’s luck changed this year due to Cosmetic Transport, their main sponsor. The club had been struggling financially throughout the years but even though it had obstacles, the athletic club has been able to identify many athletics which have evolved into world-class stages.
“Cosmic Transport came to our rescue when we were not able to get enough funding to take our athletics to the KZN Track and Field League as well as to the Youth and Junior championships last month,” explained Sibonelo, “they also assisted our runners with the purchasing of the licenses for their event and also transported them and paid for their accommodation to all important events all over the country.”
The Development Athletic Club has recently been able to also get a kit which will now separate them from the rest as they used to just wear white vests. The colours for the brand new kit is red, white and blue. “I would like to thank the family of Mr and Mrs De Beer for also supporting us. Their support does not go unnoticed,” cited Sibonelo.
The club is now open to everyone who would like to join them. Training is from Mondays to Fridays, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, at Fred Kallies stadium and everyone is welcome to join them. The club is currently dominated by male athletics and young girls are welcome to join the club.
