FedAuto Business League
This past Thursday evening saw the final round of the FedAuto Business League being played and what a stunning evening it was. The 14 teams did not disappoint with some great bowls played in a wonderfully festive atmosphere. First timers, The Blue Lions, took the honours of being stone last, ending on 6 points -38. Merry Men 18 +21 finished third while the No Name Brand team were second on 18 +30 with another first timer team, Sarel Cilliers, taking the title of winners of the FedAuto Bowls Business League ending on 18 +39. Congratulations and very well played! The club thanks FedAuto for their sponsorship of the business league as well as their ongoing support of the club.
Club Senior Singles
The club senior singles were played this past Saturday. The day started off quite cool but steadily warmed up making for great playing conditions. In the Ladies Section, only two ladies played as one lady had to, unfortunately, withdraw due to illness. Essie Slabbert and Sylvia Malan played out a mammoth battle with the lead changing constantly as the game progressed. In the end, it was Sylvia that was crowned Ladies Senior Singles Champion for 2018, beating Essie 21-20. A brilliant game played by both ladies, it could have gone either way.
In the men’s section, three men took to the greens to battle for the title of Men’s Senior Singles Champion for 2018. Three great games were played, with the first game between Dougie and Tewie also proving to be quite a battle. However, Dougie beat Tewie as well as Willie and in so doing took the honours of the Men’s Senior Singles champion. Congratulations to both Dougie and Sylvia on your achievements.
