The restructuring, and scaling down process at Karbochem has been finalised.
After weeks of negotiation, Karbochem and its employees have come to a mutual agreement, with the staff at both Sasolburg and Newcastle rubber manufacturing plants being affected.

On May 3, a retrenchment agreement was signed between Karbochem and all involved parties.
As a result, the number of jobs at Karbochem has decreased by around 250. Fortunately, Karbochem was able to retain about 50 of the 180 employees, at the Newcastle plant alone.
