Bowlers shine at Nationals
As always don't forget to bring along a blanket, non-perishable food items or pet food which the Round Table will distribute to their five beneficiaries.
The Dundee bowlers certainly kept the Dundee flag flying mightily and proudly high as they bowled to glory in the Bowls South Africa National Championships. Des Johnson, who played for the South African Correctional Services National fours side in Port Elizabeth, made it to the top eight and in the singles completion, he managed to make it to the top 16. A wonderful achievement indeed, the club is very proud of your achievements.
The ladies championship, which was played in Ekurhuleni, saw the Dundee ladies achieving great heights. Hanna Gevers, from Vryheid, but played for the Dundee fours side, made it to the singles championship final against Protea bowler, Esme Kruger. Unfortunately, Hanna could not overcome the final hurdle but achieved a silver medal for her efforts, also, a wonderful achievement. Nan Roos and Noela Dreyer (from Vryheid) had a wonderful tournament too, making it to the final of the pairs championship against the Protea pair of Colleen Piketh and Elma Davis. Nan and Noela too could not overcome the last hurdle and therefore also winning the silver medal, a great achievement.
Round Table Winter Knights
It was a bitterly cold evening that welcomed the third week of the Round Table Winter Knights Bowls Business League however the atmosphere was warm and enjoyable with players keen to take to the greens to fight it out for top honours. The top four positions changed somewhat as Langfontein find themselves in top spot with No Name Brand falling down to third position. Leaderboard as follows: Langfontein 10 +41; BB Transport 10 + 31; No Name Brand 10 +22; Charles Wade 10 +19.
As always don’t forget to bring along a blanket, non-perishable food items or pet food which the Round Table will distribute to their five beneficiaries.
