Lady bowlers win Northern Open Fours honours
The bowling club was transformed into a sea of blankets, pet food and many other much-needed items that so many businesses in our town, as well as members of the public, so graciously donated to support the Round Table Winter Knights drive.

It was an icy start as 16 club members left at sunrise for Volkrust this past Saturday to compete in the annual Northern Zone Open Fours competition.
A total of ten men’s teams took part which included two Dundee teams and a total of seven ladies teams. It was a tough day’s bowling with the competition steep.
Unfortunately, Carl, Greg and Rita’s teams could not make it through to the finals, however, Hannelie and her team bowled incredibly well, booking themselves a spot in the final against Sam and her team from Newcastle. It was yet another icy start to the day on the Sunday, finals day, as Hannelie and her team fought it out in the quest for top honours.
It was an incredibly tense and close game but the Dundee ladies managed to edge out Sam and her team by one shot with the final score being 14-13 in Dundee’s favour and in so doing won the trophy and title of Northern Zone Open Fours Ladies Champions. The Club is incredibly proud of its ladies’ achievements. Dundee bowlers are certainly a force to be reckoned with. In the men’s section, it was Phillip Scheepers and his team from Vryheid that took top honours with Sid and his team from Newcastle, runners-up.

Round Table Winter Knights
It was quite possibly the coldest night of the Round Table Winter Knights Bowls Business League 2018 as the final round was played on Thursday night. It was a very festive evening with much anticipation as to who would be taking home the trophy, however, the most important part of this league was what the Round Table had achieved for those in need in our town. The bowling club was transformed into a sea of blankets, pet food and many other much-needed items that so many businesses in our town, as well as members of the public, so graciously donated to support the Round Table Winter Knights drive. As far as the bowls were concerned, The Greenhoughs walked away with the stone (last place), with No Name Brand in 4th, BB Transport in 3rd, Langfontein in 2nd with Charles Wade and his teaming winning the second edition of the Round Table Winter Knights Bowls Business League. A huge congratulations to them.

The Club would like to wish its members, Greg, Des and Jacques good bowling and safe travels as they travel to Margate this coming Friday to compete in the All Natal Pairs competition. This is a massive competition with the Men’s section being made up of 106 teams of two from around Kwa-Zulu Natal and will be played from seven different venues along the South Coast. All the best to the Dundee bowlers, keep the Dundee flag flying high.
Upcoming events: June 9-12: All Natal Pairs; June 16: Sponsored Day in Piet Retief; June 23: Slabbert/Arndt in Dundee; June 30-July 1: KZNCB Open Fours Playoffs; July 7: FedAuto Day in Newcastle.
