Hockey and Rugby

On May 26, Michaelis Junior Phase learners took part in Utrecht’s annual Sharky Tournament, playing both hockey and rugby. The U8 girls beat Piet Retief B 2 – 0, drew against Paulpietersburg and then played Piet Retief B again and drew. The U9 girls drew their first match against NSP and beat Piet Retief B and Amajuba 2 – 0. The U 9 boys’ hockey team played against NPS, UHS and St Dom’s. They drew the first match, won the second match and drew the last one. The U8 boys played rugby against Piet Retief, Utrecht and Dundee. They unfortunately lost these matches but much experience was gained. The scores were as follows: 3-6 against Piet Retief, 4 – 7 against Utrecht and 3 – 5 against Dundee. We would like to thank Utrecht for a well organised and fun filled morning.

Dance

The three Vyncke sisters took part in SADI (South African Dance Institute) competitions on the weekend of May 26, and they did really well. For their Hip Hop dance, Ivana and Giuliana received a silver medal with a special award. Giuliana did an acrobatic routine and received a silver medal. Danika, Ivana and Giuliana danced a routine called “I’m a Lady” and they were awarded silver medals with a special award. Fantastic girls, you did us proud.
