DSS Netball Champion set to represent Umzinyathi
The staff and SGB at Dundee Secondary School are proud to have such a humble learner achieve such commendable heights and national recognition.
Awande Ntuli, currently in grade 10 at DSS, is all set to represent Umzinyathi district at the National Netball Championships which will take place from the June 24 till the June 29.
Awande, who is a dedicated netball star, has thrived under the coaching expertise of Ms Sikhakhane (Head netball coach at DSS). This rising netball star has committed herself to her sporting goals and ensures that she trains daily to sharpen her skills.
Awande began showing an interest in netball when she was in Grade 3 and through hard work, discipline and natural talent she was awarded her Natal colours in 2014. She went even further and received her South African colours in Netball in 2015 and 2016.
Awande excels in goal defense and goalkeeper positions on the netball court and has earned the praise of her coaches and teammates. Awande plans to pursue a career in the sporting field and she willingly assists any learner who is interested in netball. It is through the kind donations of her avid supporters that Awande is able to travel across the province to compete at national level.
Awande urges all prospective athletes to focus and be consistent and they too can achieve sporting excellence.
