SHOWSTOPPER: Yashin brings something ‘sinister’ this way ahead of car show

According to Yashin, he and his crew have a surprise set up for the show which promises to be a showstopper not to be missed.

For 27-year-old Yashin Harilal, his love of cars is not a hobby, but a way of life.

Fostering an interest in cars from an early age, Yashin always aspired to own his own mean machine.
To date, he said he’s come a long way.

“I started from a bone stock City Golf 1 and today it has more detail than an onion peel under a microscope,” he joked.

Where the journey began:

The year was 2008 when Yashin became good friends with Terence Chetty, founder of SuperSonic.

“Terence and I became close friends. He introduced us to the car shows and assisted us ever since,” Yashin explained.

Yashin will be entering his pride and joy into the competition, which he has been preparing for months ahead of the Show Off Your Ride Car Show this weekend.

 Something sinister this way comes:

In 2015, Yashin and a friend decided to form a car club of their own, which gave rise to the highly sought-out crew known as Sinister Rides.

The club currently boasts 46 members of which four are female.

“We wanted a club that was not brand specific and open to all. Our club is multi-racial and anyone can join.”

Within the space of three years, Sinister Rides has already made its claim to fame by holding the title of the Biggest Car Crew for two years consecutively.

“This year, Sinister Rides will take on the Limbo Challenge.”

When the club members are not making waves in the car show world, they strongly believe in charity and are involved in numerous community projects.

“We visited the babies at Home Meah and we also raised funds to donate to the home. While we were there, members even cleaned up the play area.”

Yashin encouraged Newcastillians to contact him should they identify an organisation who needs assistance. He can be contacted on 064 772 5065.

What spectators can expect from Sinister Rides at this year’s show:

According to Yashin, he and his crew have a surprise set up for the show which promises to be a showstopper not to be missed.

“I’m looking forward to the Show n Shine category, which I will be entering. I will be bringing my A-game and I know my guys will be carrying around their micro-fibre cloths on the day,” he joked.

Yashin said he was waiting in great anticipation to meet people from other towns at the show.

“When you meet like-minded people you get a different perspective and they can hook you up with their contacts and vice-versa.”

The face behind the ride:

Aside from being an avid petrolhead, Yashin is a banking consultant by day and after matriculating he studied financial management.

“I want to further my studies in the near future.”

Yashin said all of his successes would not be possible without the support, love and constant motivation from his parents, brothers and girlfriend of six years, Yuvishka Ramballi.

Yashin said the key to achieving success in the world of car events, was to have a vision, plan ahead and take pride in your ride.

“If your dreams don’t scare you, then they are not big enough,” he concluded.
