Moes football club soaring high
The boys were ecstatic and anxious, as some of them were leaving town for the first time.
A local aspiring football team from Dundee, Moes Football Club (u/19), participated in the Buddy Talk Tournament in Nelspruit a few weeks ago and won the tournament. These boys may be young, but their skills and passion are beyond their years.
Mohammed Amod, one of the team managers, said that “my wife and I as well as Aarifa Jardine and Mohammed Jardin, formed this team in 2016 and our main aim was to get get the kids off the streets, away from drugs and to keep them occupied and motivated at all times”. “We have a team of 16 boys and we are hoping to get a girls team in the future”, he continued.
The recent trip to Mpumalanga was funded by both couples and a few local businesses.
Fathima Amod said she ‘”would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of those who made the trip possible by sponsoring the boys and to those who helped us during the tournament”.
“We would like to say well done to the boys as they played exceptionally well and we hope they will win more games in the future”, she concluded.
The boys were ecstatic and anxious, as some of them were leaving town for the first time. It was song and dance as they made their way back to Dundee with a trophy and medals as a symbol of their victory.
The management team would like to congratulate the following players for their outstanding performance – Masiya Pillay and Nasheel and Zaakir Hassen who scored an astonishing five goals during the tournament. Well done boys.
