ANGLING: Second outing for League anglers
The Angler of the Day was the club’s Ramil Juggan with nine points, for which he received the red cap, trophy and R200 in cash.
After an opening draw, the heat was on for top anglers last week.
The highly anticipated League 2 of the Angling Professional League (APL) took place on September 16 at Richgate Park, following a 31-point stalemate between Ladysmith Angling Club and Breakwaters AC during League 1.

This time it was Breakwaters which broke the deadlock.
The veteran team emerged victorious with 65 points, ahead of Ladysmith on 43 points, Stillwaters on 32 points, Challengers on 11 points and Glencoe with a solitary point.
As a result, Breakwaters leads the standings with 23 points.
Ladysmith has moved to second overall with 21 points, ahead of Challengers on 14, Stillwaters on 12, Dannhauser on eight and Glencoe on six.
Individually, Ladysmith AC continues to excel.

However, Ramil is yet to crack the season’s top three.
Mohamed Mia of Challengers leads the title race with 17 individual points, followed by previous winner, Kaveer Singh (Breakwaters – 12 points) and Anil Boodhoo (Stillwaters – 10 points).
“This season, the prizes have been made more lucrative, with the top three anglers winning themselves R3 000, R2 000 and R1 000 worth of angling tackle respectively. The Angler of the Year will also win a sponsored family weekend at Chimani Resort on the Vaal River,” said APL management.

The APL also congratulated Ladysmith’s Udien Govender, who landed a carp which tipped the scales at just over four kilogrammes.
This placed him at the forefront of the race to a R500 prize.
“Due to the fasting period, anglers will be taking a well deserved break from competitive angling and will be back in action for League 3 on October 21 at Sandford.”
